We are Sandy and Fred Younkin, owners of The Confluence House Bed & Breakfast and Catering Services, LLC. I, Sandy, was the innkeeper and chef at the B&B for three years. We had the pleasure of purchasing the guest house in June 2010. The previous owners, Barb and Jim Harrold, left us a great house to continue providing guests a quiet respite while visiting our area. I continue as the primary innkeeper and chef. Fred will continue building railroads, doing maintenance here as needed and providing kitchen support for catering events when needed. We both bring years of travel experience and heart to this house as well as a love for the area.
We relocated to the area permanently in 2001 from the Baltimore/Washington Metropolitan Area. We bought our small farm as a weekend and vacation home a few years earlier. As a transplant from Maryland to California as a child then back to Maryland after meeting Fred on a blind date while visiting famiy in my mid-20's, I find the Laurel Highlands a magical place to settle. Fred is thrilled to return to his childhood home of Confluence and enjoy the quiet outdoors surrounding us after being in a major metropolitan area for so long. It's easy to adapt to waking up to the sound of birds, the stream running beside our home and the majestic beauty of the Appalachian ridge.
